Align and distribute objects

Align object edges or equalize the gaps between them.
Alignment moves objects to a shared line. Distribution adjusts the space between them.
Follow these steps

Prepare the selection

Select the objects. A single object aligns to the page; multiple objects align relative to their selection bounds. Check for unintended or locked selections first.

Align horizontally or vertically

Use the alignment row at the top of Properties for left, center, right, top, middle, or bottom. The context menu also offers Align Selection. For text paragraph alignment, use the paragraph lesson.

Distribute spacing

Select at least three unlocked objects and distribute horizontally or vertically. Gaps are calculated within the outer bounds. If the layout is cramped, move the outside objects farther apart first. Two objects are not enough.

Check the spread reference

In spread view, check the page/spread reference in the alignment menu. The same command can produce a different position with a different reference. Undo and change the reference if needed.
Result
Check consistent edges or gaps and make sure content remains within the page.
