Create your first catalog
Last updated: September 8, 2026 · 2 min read
Choose a size and language, then prepare your first page.
Start with a blank catalog, a template, or an existing IDML/PDF file, depending on your material.
- Saving, revisions, and restoring
Save your work and create revisions at useful checkpoints.
- Work with templates and layout presets
Start from a ready-made design or reuse your own layout.
- Change catalog language and size
Distinguish settings changes from creating a resized copy.
Follow these steps
- 1
Create a catalog
EditorNew Catalog
Choose the new-catalog action on the start screen and enter a recognizable name. Use the template route when you want a ready-made design.
- 2
Choose dimensions
New CatalogCatalog Size
Choose a preset or Custom Size. Check px, mm, or inches before entering width and height. The same number in different units produces different dimensions; respect the displayed allowed range.
- 3
Set layout and content language
New CatalogPage Layout
Choose Single Page or Spread. Covers appear alone in magazine layouts. Content language affects the publication interface, screen-reader pronunciation, and PDF language; it does not translate existing text.
- 4
Enable accessible authoring
New CatalogAccessibility
Enable accessible publishing in the creation dialog when needed. You can also enable it later in Share > Accessibility. This does not fill content descriptions for you; follow the authoring checks.
- 5
Build the first page
New CatalogCreate Catalog
After creation, add text, images, or a layout preset in the editor. Add further pages through Pages. Before publishing, follow the saving, preview, and sharing lessons.
Result
The catalog should open at the intended dimensions and language, with your first page visible in preview.
