Apply text effects

Last updated: September 8, 2026 · 4 min read

Add a shadow, glow, outline, echo, or neon appearance.

Effects apply to the whole text block. Put a word in its own block if it needs a separate effect.

Follow these steps

  1. 1

    Choose an effect

    PropertiesEffects

Click Shadow, Glow, Outline, Echo, or Neon. Relevant settings appear below the cards. Choosing another card replaces the current effect rather than stacking effects.

  2. 2

    Adjust shadow or echo

    PropertiesEffects

Use Distance and Direction to position the shadow or repetitions. Shadow also provides Softness; Echo does not. Color changes the effect color, while the main text color remains in Style.

  3. 3

    Adjust glow, neon, or outline

    PropertiesEffects

For Glow and Neon, change Softness and Color. For Outline, use Thickness and Color. Avoid closing the spaces inside letters with a heavy outline.

  4. 4

    Remove the effect

    PropertiesEffects

Choose None. The effect and its settings are cleared. Selecting an effect later does not restore those cleared settings.

  5. 5

    Review readability

    EditorPreflight

Inspect the text against its actual background at the intended size. An effect does not automatically fix poor text contrast. Complete any visual review requested for accessible publishing and check legibility in the intended output.

Your block has a controlled effect while remaining legible.
