Image masking

Last updated: September 8, 2026 · 2 min read

Show a photo inside a ready-made shape or a path you draw yourself.

A mask defines the visible part of a photo. You can adjust the frame and the image inside it independently. Choose a lesson that matches what is already on your page.

Follow these steps

  1. 1

    Choose how to start

    EditorCanvas

For an empty shape or path, add an image from Properties. If both the photo and the frame are already on the page, select them together and choose Mask image.

  2. 2

    Arrange the image

    PropertiesCrop

Use Crop to move, scale or rotate the photo. To change the frame itself, finish cropping first, then adjust the shape or edit the path.

  3. 3

    Check the result

    EditorCanvas

Keep the subject visible and check for gaps around the edges. If you are preparing an accessible publication, also review the description of the masked object.

Result

The photo and its frame are selected as one object. Release the mask whenever you need an independent image again.
