Embed maps, 3D, and external content

Last updated: September 8, 2026 · 1 min read

Display external content through a cover, icon, or inline frame.

External content depends on the provider’s sharing and embedding permissions. A ready status alone does not prove that readers can open it.

Follow these steps

  1. 1

    Set the source

    PropertiesEmbed

Insert an embed preset from Elements > Interaction. Enter the provider’s embed URL or code containing an iframe. A valid iframe source takes precedence when both fields are filled; check old code when changing sources.

  2. 2

    Choose display mode

    PropertiesDisplay mode

For Cover, upload a thumbnail that opens the content. For Icon, choose its symbol, shape, size, and color. Inline displays the content within the page in preview/reader mode; the canvas may show a placeholder.

  3. 3

    Add names and equivalents

    PropertiesAccessibility

Set the modal title. Add an accessible name and equivalent description conveying purpose and key information, such as the address shown by a map.

  4. 4

    Verify access

    EditorPreview

Open the content and check that it does not require an unintended login, permits embedding, and allows keyboard exit. If it fails, review the provider’s embed/share URL. An ordinary webpage URL is not always embeddable.

Check your result

Check the result in preview, then verify the reader experience in the published version.

Troubleshooting

An old embed still opens
A valid iframe source in Embed code takes precedence over the URL. Clear old code and check again.
Ready content does not open for readers
Check the provider’s embedding and sharing permissions. Recognizing a URL does not prove the external service can load.
