Fill a ready-made shape with an image

Place a photo inside a circle, rectangle or another ready-made shape.

You do not need to add the photo as a separate object first. Select the shape, then upload an image or choose one from the gallery in Properties.

Follow these steps

Select the shape

Click the shape once. Check that its controls appear in the Properties panel on the right.

Open the image controls

Expand Image to see the preview and image selection controls.

Upload a file or choose from the gallery

Choose From file to upload a photo from your computer. To reuse an available image, choose From gallery and click its thumbnail. Use whichever method suits your source.
From gallery appears when uploaded or sample images are available. If it is absent, start with From file.

Adjust the framing

The new image initially covers the frame, so some edges may be hidden. Choose Crop, drag the photo into place and select Apply. Continue to the positioning lesson for scaling and rotation.

Control	Where	What it does
From file	Properties	Uploads an image directly into the selected shape.
From gallery	Properties	Uses an uploaded or sample image.
Crop	Properties	Adjusts the photo while keeping the shape boundary fixed.

The photo appears inside the shape. Moving the shape also moves its image.

The Image section is missing: Select one shape rather than multiple objects. If you selected a line, use a different shape.
Only part of the photo is visible: The initial placement covers the frame. Open Crop and resize or reposition the photo to show the area you need.
