Add and edit text links
Last updated: September 8, 2026 · 4 min read
Turn selected words into a clickable link.
Use wording that explains the destination. For example, View product dimensions is more useful than Click here.
Follow these steps
- 1
Enter the destination
PropertiesLink
Enter the full web address starting with https:// in the link field. Check that it points to the intended page. The field is available during text editing, rather than when only the box is selected.
- 2
Choose a tab and apply
PropertiesLink
Choose Same tab or New tab, then click the chain icon to apply the link to the selection. Changing the tab preference alone does not update an existing link; apply it again.
- 3
Update an existing link
PropertiesLink
Place the cursor inside the linked words. Edit the displayed address, choose the tab preference, and apply again. This updates the existing link.
- 4
Remove a link
PropertiesStyle
Select the linked words and use Clear Formatting. The text remains, while its link and other formatting are removed.
This is not a link-only removal control. Reapply any formatting you want to keep. Select a text range first; otherwise the whole block is affected.
- 5
Test as a reader
EditorShare
Finish editing and test the link in the reader view. Clicking text in the editor is for editing; it is different from following a link as a reader. Check both the destination and the chosen tab behavior.
Result
The selected words lead to the intended destination and explain it to the reader.
